Sts. Andrew Zorard and Benedict

hermits, patrons of the Diocese of Nitra · 11th century
Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.
— Matt 5:8

Zorard, probably of Polish origin, lived as a hermit on Zobor near Nitra and then in a cave at Skalka near Trenčín. His disciple Benedict continued the hermit life until robbers murdered him and threw him into the Váh. They are the first saints from Slovakia.
