St. Aloysius Gonzaga

religious, patron of youth · 1568 – 1591
I am a crooked piece of iron; I came into religion to be straightened.
— According to his biographers

The eldest son of a marquis gave up his inheritance and joined the Jesuits. During a plague epidemic in Rome he carried the sick from the streets to hospital until he caught the disease and died at 23. He is the patron of youth. Love is stronger than the fear of infection.
