April 16
On this day the Catholic Church remembers
St. Benedict Joseph Labre

St. Benedict Joseph Labre

pilgrim, beggar · 1748 – 1783
Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
— Matt 5:3

No monastery would accept him, so he became a pilgrim. He walked across Europe from shrine to shrine and spent his last years as a beggar in Rome, praying for hours before the Eucharist. God has his saints among the homeless too.
