St. Agnes of Bohemia

St. Agnes of Bohemia

princess, Poor Clare · 1211 – 1282
Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy.
— Matt 5:7

A Bohemian princess whose hand even the emperor sought, she refused every offer. In Prague she founded a hospital and a Poor Clare convent and nursed the sick herself. She was canonised in November 1989, just days before the Velvet Revolution. Love is stronger than a throne.
