St. Lucy

St. Lucy

virgin and martyr · 283 – 304
Those who live chastely and devoutly are temples of the Holy Spirit.
— Acts of her martyrdom

A young woman of Syracuse who gave her dowry to the poor. Her rejected suitor denounced her as a Christian. Her name means “light” – and her feast falls in the longest nights of the year. St. Lucy's nights invite us to carry light into the darkness.
