St. Juan Diego
Am I not here, I who am your mother?
— Words of Our Lady, Nican Mopohua
A poor Aztec farmer to whom the Virgin Mary appeared in 1531. The bishop wanted a sign – and Juan Diego brought roses in his cloak in the middle of winter. When he unfolded the cloak, the image of the Virgin was on it. Mary comes to those whom others overlook.
