St. Edmund

king and martyr · c. 841 – 869
Do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul.
— Matt 10:28

The young King of East Anglia, captured by the Vikings. When he refused to deny Christ and become their vassal, they tied him to a tree, shot arrows at him and beheaded him. He was the patron of England before St. George. Faithfulness is stronger than power.
