Sts. Cornelius and Cyprian
He cannot have God for his Father who does not have the Church for his mother.
— St. Cyprian, On the Unity of the Church 6
Pope Cornelius in Rome and Bishop Cyprian in Carthage together defended mercy towards those who had denied the faith during persecution and wanted to return. Both died as martyrs. Mercy and truth go together.
