The Passion of St. John the Baptist

memorial · † c. 29
It is not lawful for you to have your brother's wife.
— Mark 6:18

John the Baptist told King Herod the truth about his sin. For this he was imprisoned and, at a banquet, beheaded at the wish of a dancer. He died a witness to the truth. The truth cannot be silenced – not even by prison.
