St. Albert Chmielowski

religious, painter · 1845 – 1916
One should be as good as bread.
— Brother Albert's favourite saying

An insurgent who lost a leg in battle, and a gifted painter. He painted the picture Ecce Homo and then left art to live with the homeless in Kraków. He founded the Albertine Brothers. Being good as bread means being there for everyone who is hungry.
